Moving from East Delray Beach to West Lake Worth

The honeymoon phase is over, and honestly, this is the part nobody really talks about when you make the move from East Delray to West Lake Worth.

At first, everything feels like a massive shift. You go from a high-energy coastal buzz to a much quieter, suburban rhythm. Once life actually settles in, you realize you’re balancing two very different lifestyles.

What I miss about East Delray Beach:

  • The coastal energy: Taking a quick bike ride to the beach or catching the sunrise on the sand first thing in the morning. I used to do that all the time. I loved it. I really miss it. Now it takes me at least 20 minutes (with no traffic) to go to the beach. That sucks for a beach lover like I am !
  • The European vibe: The wide options of local coffee shops that always remind me of sitting outside at a café in France, the incredible non-chain restaurants, and the diverse culture of a vibrant downtown. I’ve always liked the energy of a city. That might be what I miss the most living in the suburbs.

What I love about West Lake Worth:

  • The space & value: Getting a much better space-to-price ratio when buying a home, you actually have room to breathe. That was the main motivation to move here. Being able to live in a nice place near downtown Delray is expensive. With a family, it was not possible.
  • The family lifestyle: Access to fantastic public schools and being surrounded by incredible nature parks like Green Cay and Wakodahatchee.

You aren’t constantly fighting for parking or mapping your entire day around downtown traffic gridlock.

Instead of packed, noisy sidewalks (especially during the season), your weekends start looking a lot like wide-open green spaces, quiet walks through established neighborhoods, and a sense of breathing room you didn’t realize you were missing.
  • The pace: Life moves a little slower, and intentionally so. After a while, you realize you’re not constantly rushing anymore. And for sure, you don’t go to the beach that often, but you can still ride your bike to tour the neighborhoods or the neigborhood parks.

The honeymoon phase doesn’t end in disappointment. It just turns into real life, and you figure out that having a community-first lifestyle with excellent schools and wide-open green spaces is exactly what fits this next chapter.

Let me know f you want to understand what your options in the Lake Worth area could look like!
